About Us
About Little Wallabies

Little Wallabies is a small family owned long day care centre. "We provide a home like, loving, educational environment, which stimulates children's development and provides them with the skills they need to become life long learners."

We are open Monday – Friday 7.30 am – 6.00 pm 50 weeks a year

We are a purpose built service, providing care for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years. We have 3 spacious rooms for indoor activities and 2 separate outdoor areas designed to challenge and facilitate children’s learning, meeting their changing needs as they grow.

We are in a convenient location at 198 Bannockburn Rd near the corner of Bobbin Head Rd, with off street parking and close to public transport. The tranquil setting encourages the children to engage in their local community.

We have a talented team of experienced educators that care for each and every child that comes into our care like they are our own.

Let me be the first to welcome you to our family.

Philosophy

At Little Wallabies we value and respect children, encouraging them to them to learn through play in an inclusive environment where they feel safe and secure allowing them to develop a their own identities.  Our philosophy is influenced by a variety of perspectives in early childhood education especially the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), the Early Childhood Australia Code of Ethics and Social Constructivism theorists.

Our children are encouraged to develop a strong sense of belonging and well-being, enabling them to understand their place in the world in which we live.

Our program reflects that children are capable learners that are able to actively contribute to their own learning. We support the children to develop the dispositions required for life long learning such as confidence, curiosity, persistence, creativity, imagination and problem solving. We recognise that children are effective communicators who are capable at expressing their thoughts and ideas both verbally and non-verbally.  We believe that children learn most effectively when their own personal interests, learning styles and life experiences are taken into consideration. .

We believe that families are the most important people in children’s lives. At Little Wallabies we work in partnership with families, having respective supportive and authentic relationships in which we collaborate with one another.  We understand that families are diverse and encourage and value all contributions to the centre.  We acknowledge, that at times, we may need the support of other specialists such as Inclusion Support Services to support children with additional needs.

We acknowledge the environment as the third teacher and use this within our program when considering children’s needs, interests and ideas.
